CPRI stands for Central Power Research Institute Set up in 1960 through the Government of India, CPRI is the power house of the Indian electrical industry. CPRI (Central Power Research Institute) Library and information centre, Bangalore was founded with the origin of the Institute in the year 1960. CPRI Library regarded as one of the best libraries in India in the area of electrical power engineering.

CPRI Library and Information Centre set up with objects to develop a comprehensive collection of documents that is utilitarian for the research scholars and faculty of CPRI in their R & D and testing activities of the Institute and disseminates information to all the customer. CPRI Library and Information Centre has got a collection of over 30,792 stock. At present CPRI Library has developed with its collection and is at present fully automatized including the library in-house activities like Acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials control.
